Hanos Hengelo

Hanos Hengelo airstopOn May 20, HANOS opened its newest location on the Westermaat Campus business park in Hengelo. It concerns the 27th establishment of the international catering wholesaler, accounting for around 17,000 square meters of catering supplies. With this, HANOS serves catering companies in the Twente region, who were initially dependent on the Apeldoorn location.

The building consists of two floors, which offer space for a distribution center and a self-service wholesaler with more than 100,000 items. There are more than 16,000 fresh items, over 750 types of cheese, around 3,200 delicacies and over 10,000 non-food items. Workshops and master classes are also regularly given.

Fun shopping experience

Multidisciplinarity is characteristic of the situation at HANOS Hengelo. The shopping area has fairly large conditioned spaces including fish, fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese and wine. Each department has its own dimensions and requirements for temperature, humidity and hygiene. Deweerdt: “An important point of attention for the shopping area is that certain smells, such as fish, do not spread. In addition, HANOS attaches great importance to a pleasant shopping experience, with spacious, luxurious and well-arranged departments.

Our AirStop products connect seamlessly with the situation and wishes of HANOS Hengelo. These air curtains provide an invisible separation between the different odor and temperature zones. With this we create ideal product conditions, so that HANOS can present its products freely. “

Audi markets its models in an energy-efficient way. In addition to the top finish of each model, Audi is committed to low CO2 emissions and meeting high environmental standards. Audi develops mild hybrids, e-tron and g-tron and focuses on many (future) concept studies. You notice these developments as a customer in the streets.

What precedes it is not so noticeable for the customer, especially the production. In production too, the same high demands are made on the efficiency of installations, including the “invisible doors” of the Masterveil Airstop range. Masterveil here provides a solid shielding between two departments, which leads to a more efficient approach than simply heating the cold air to the desired temperature.

By means of double discharge drums, a precise air flow is generated that, as it were, keeps the cold and warm air apart. By precisely defining the discharge angle, we can also determine exactly where we want the collision point. Returning to this maximum efficiency, it is only necessary to consider afterwards whether the temperature still needs to be conditioned depending on the seasons.

Frederick Caestecker – B/GZ-2 Work service Brussels

In advance we had a look at the reference “NIKE” in Laakdal. At Nike, too, the priority was to provide maximum shielding instead of heating up the incoming cold air to the desired temperature. This is not only expensive and energy-consuming, it is also inconsistent with our CO2 neutrality.

Masterveil can offer us solutions for small and large indoor and outdoor gates. It was an absolute added value for Audi that we could seamlessly integrate the system into our own building management system.

Save energy thanks to air curtains of Masterveil Europe

Masterveil Europe delivers thermal air curtains that separate different spaces with differing temperatures. A technology that not only saves energy (and thus also cents), but is furthermore hygienic and offers comfort (no physical barrier anymore between the different spaces). Ideal for cold storage and freezer rooms, logistical applications, retail, and entrances to supermarkets and shopping centres.

Colruyt chooses Masterveil Europe

In its search for invisible doors, Colruyt examines the market and discovers what Masterveil Europe can mean for its retail. In 2014, it signs a contract with this technology player for supplying its stores (Colruyt , Cru, …) with thermal curtains. Efficiency combined with tailor-made work are high on the wish list of Colruyt.

Colruyt considers efficiency to be very important. Striving towards as much efficiency as possible is necessary for guaranteeing low costs and thus also low prices. Striving towards efficiency also leads to simplicity. The group wants to offer added value to its customers, employees, and suppliers in a qualitative way. Not only in terms of economy, but also of sustainability and the society, Colruyt wants to make a meaningful contribution. Sustainability is in the DNA of Colruyt. Thermal curtains (or invisible air doors) contribute to it.

Fresh market with air curtains

The invisible separation between the various temperature and odour zones establishes the ideal store climate for the customer as well as the products. The curtain keeps the cold air in the cold storage space.
An optimal separation between the temperature at the store and that of the cold storage room furthermore ensures an optimal passage, which considerably increases store comfort for both customers and employees.

Simple, efficient and economic: these are the air curtains of Masterveil Europe.

Effective shielding

Masterveil AIRSTOP systems

Because of the space saving design of this generation, the Masterveil AIRSTOP systems are perfect for openings with conveyor belts up to large gates, and a large number of exterior gates.

A leading refrigeration and logistics companies was looking for solutions for problems arising from accidental exchange of air at passages or outer gates. The company’s lineup includes services in food handling and food processing, as well as fresh produce, transport and warehouse logistics, with correspondingly diverse requirements for ventilation. They found the company, specialized in individual air curtains, now also be used in a compact, space saving design.

In the most diverse areas, the cooling and logistics company relies now on AIRSTOP systems of Masterveil, both for shielding outer gates, high gates too frozen halls, passageways with transport rails or conveyor belts. These solutions correspond to the company’s maxim, which provides sustainable concepts, use of advanced technology and responsible handling of resources.

Optimal approach for each situation of the company

adjacent exterior gates

Air screening at several adjacent exterior gates – because of the compact design and the individual outblow length solutions can be also realized with the low gate distance.

For the cooling and logistics company a close cooperation with Masterveil is important. Thereby environmental parameters are respected, so that a solution concept can be developed, that is tuned to the specific holistic situation. Air curtains with horizontal, vertical or double standing blowing elements in versions Aluzink, RAL color or stainless steel are used. The length of the outblow element is variable. Depending on requirements, heater or filters are added, or the system is combined with a dehumidification.

Measure made air curtain now also in a compact design

compact Masterveil AIRSTOP

A goal with little space for assembly is shielded by a compact Masterveil AIRSTOP, in this case with an additional built-in fan.

Not only in the cold logistics the new custom-made Masterveil AIRSTOP systems are welcomed in a compact design. Despite the space saving design, individual solutions can be realized: The number of integrated fans can be adjusted, depending on the problem, and the outblow length is variable. An extension with filters is possible, as well as a splash guard on an intake grid.

The art of invisible doors

In addition to the effcient AirStop technology already used for different applications for some time, Masterveil developed Powerstream as a revolutionary system to stop energy losses from open deep-freezers. “Here we offer a much more energy efficient alternative in comparison with traditional air curtain technology”, says business manager Peter Deweerdt.
The AirStop from Masterveil keeps the conditions in two spaces separate with an ‘invisible door’. “Here we refer to gases, odours, temperatures and moisture – so much more than just the temperature. Powerstream takes matters another step forward for freezers. Much energy is lost each time the door is opened to drive goods in or out.”
Traditional air curtains are limited to, simply put, ‘heating’ or ‘cooling’ the problem. “Our Powerstream invention – developed in cooperation with Ghent University – reduces air curtain energy consumption by up to factor ten. is represents gigantic savings”, adds Peter Deweerdt.
SOONER INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROJECT
While in the past Masterveil was mainly asked to apply the system to cold stores and freezer rooms, engineering offices are now looking to the technology at a much earlier stage. “Engineering offices are already calling upon us for construction or conversion projects at an early stage in their projects, something that is an extremely positive evolution. We are also seeing interest in our revolutionary system from abroad growing strongly.”

Cold chain solutions

We at Masterveil are fully aware of the problems food production companies are coping with. Especially these companies which produce or handle fresh products are challenged by the HACCP regulations. In a competitive market it is all about cutting down the costs.

Masterveil has developed several system which help you keeping the right temperature at the right place. Since the costs of energy are quite high, the return on investment in general is very short. The answer to saving energy and closing the cold chain is just one phone call away.
